Sometimes shoots don’t go as planned. In this case we were looking to get some shots of the Aurora. With the overcast sky, and the aurora stuck in traffic somewhere in Canada we decided to make our own light show… cameras waiting Making our own Aurora What happens when you move your camera mid exposure Power Ball Justin simulating North korea Green Fury on fire

Marie’s Shoot http://lukeoverhere.com/2012/05/maries-shoot/ http://lukeoverhere.com/2012/05/maries-shoot/#comments Mon, 14 May 2012 03:14:52 +0000 Luke http://lukeoverhere.com/?p=1468 Driving down to the edge of Central/South jersey, I had the chance to shoot with my best friend, Marie, along the empty Jersey Shore for her fashion blog, “Petite, Fabulous, and Broke“. It was cold and windy, but Marie was awesome to work with. Special thanks to Janjan for helping us out with this shoot.

Dave Muhn | Big Bang – “Blue” Cover http://lukeoverhere.com/2012/03/dave-muhn-big-bang-blue-cover/ http://lukeoverhere.com/2012/03/dave-muhn-big-bang-blue-cover/#comments Wed, 14 Mar 2012 03:52:01 +0000 Luke http://lukeoverhere.com/?p=1419 Nothing like a simple idea turning into something extraordinary. A bunch of good friends got together to shoot this cover video all around the waterfront in New Jersey. I had a great time working with the great Dave Muhn, Grace Subervi, Jonkristoffer (DJ Sanchez) Bisda, & Daniel Dai on this project. That dope NY/NJ shirt Dave is rocking is a School and Rivals original. Take a look at some of the shots behind the scenes and don’t forget to vote for it on the YG contest page.

Clearly, I’ve been behind on updating this. Then again, I’ve been on a bit of hiatus while I get my life together now that I’m in the “real world”. Well…somewhat. Anyways, I went into the city to meet up with some friends and got back to the roots of my photography. Back when I was still in college in NYC (not that long ago honestly), I had the opportunity to randomly explore and really just experiment. Maybe it’s time to get that started again. But in the meantime. Take a look. A man yawns while looking at the MTA subway map. A mother and her child cross the street around the 8th St. NYU area. A worker outside of a restaurant checks his phone. Very solid falafel pita. What R2D2 would probably look like if he got tagged up. A sign out side of the filipino restaurant, Maharlika, where we ate for brunch. A tiny coffee shop that seemed to be endlessly packed with patrons. A locked metal door with an intriguing graffiti pattern. I have no words for this. I'm not exactly contributing to the sticker's cause. Next place to try, just around the corner from Maharlika. The streets. A drink very worthy of its namesake at Maharlika I totally forget this drink's name but it was very cucumbery. Calamansi Mango Mimosa Yes, it's just as good as it looks. Fried Garlic Rice, Paquiao's Punch, and Sizzling Sisig Bake Shop Micha Face Reminds me of Barca A throwback to many "long" nights with friends. A pedestrian making his way down the sidewalk. Not sure how I feel about this... A man putting up posters about the Occupy movement. A couple standing by waiting for the next L Train 14th Street Station

Van Gogh’s Ear http://lukeoverhere.com/2011/08/van-goghs-ear/ http://lukeoverhere.com/2011/08/van-goghs-ear/#comments Tue, 02 Aug 2011 02:54:53 +0000 Luke http://lukeoverhere.com/?p=1356 I think the fun part about photography is the times when you’re just taking snapshots of what’s around you. It’s kind of good practice if you think about it. Your biggest goal the entire time is not to disturb the environment around you, but merely document it. It’s essentially the role you have as an event photographer–to an extent. Sure there are the posed and formal shots, but when you capture the essence of a moment, and those little details in their untouched candid states, you bring the picture full circle making a series of images not just a collection of pictures but a detailed narrative, where each image is a page of a story that envelops you.

A spiteful bank account later, I ended up replacing the body which was actually long overdue. What an appropriate place but in a garden along with trusty mentor and friend, John Richard Pena. Basically I’m relearning how to shoot again with this new body, even more so now since I’m now video capable.

Graduation “Shoot” http://lukeoverhere.com/2011/07/graduation-shoot/ http://lukeoverhere.com/2011/07/graduation-shoot/#comments Thu, 07 Jul 2011 21:08:33 +0000 Luke http://lukeoverhere.com/?p=1261 Generally speaking, my friends aren’t big fans of the “traditional” cap & gown shoot that involve the same boring poses in front of a painted bookshelf background. So we decided to go simple route into a little park nestled within the confines of Manhattan, but nowhere near as hectic as Central Park. To say the least, we had a lot of fun. My assistant, not pictured here, also got to play around and experiment as well. I’d say that my assistant is coming along well. I tip my hat off to you. To all of us grads looking for work, I tip my hat off to you as well. I wish you all the best of luck. Western Europe http://lukeoverhere.com/2011/07/western-europe/ http://lukeoverhere.com/2011/07/western-europe/#comments Wed, 06 Jul 2011 23:08:44 +0000 Luke http://lukeoverhere.com/?p=1231 Now that I have finally finished four long years of undergrad, I’ve had the opportunity to travel with the family from Barcelona, to Florence, Rome, Naples, and Palma Majorca. Being in a world outside of the United States is eyeopening and quite surreal. What I sought to capture was something pretty. But what I came back with was something beautiful.

The Spiral Staircase at the Vatican Museum.

Pathways Such a simple park, and even more gorgeous, Espanya I don't know what it is with underground transportation, but I love capturing people just sitting down in their own little worlds waiting for the train. is my homeboy. From la Sagrada Familia you can get one of the best views of Barcelona Busy as anything during the day, but still a wonderful walk to the harbor. One of the many covered markets in Barcelona, but also the most famous one. Lots of Jamon Serrano to go about. What I found most interesting about this shot is that one particular couple just looking out at the fountain together. Fountain Such a quiet park near the apartment we hired for the four days we were in Barcelona. No idea how that guy can be so friendly with those birds. As for the kid, that didn't work out too well. I thought the pattern of the floor was quite interesting at Casa Mila also known as "La Pedrera The Palau Nacional Holds a wide variety of art including none other than Pablo Picasso. Atop Montjuic is a Spanish Village replica made If i had to imagine what the entrance to heaven looks like, it'd probably have this as part of it. The Spiral Staircase at the Vatican Museum. I see the light. Florence Overview Good Question. Probably one of the more busy thoroughfares along the river Locks near the covered bridge in Florence ]]>
